Our fast-paced manufacturing firm is seeking a Grinder Operator. This position will provide the successful candidate with the chance to apply their knowledge, learn new skills, and work as a team within a clean and safe environment. The ideal candidate for this role has 2+ years’ experience in the manufacturing sector, pays strong attention to detail, has excellent attendance and is committed to workplace safety. This is a 2nd shift shift position (3:00pm - 11:00pm). Listed below are the qualifications and requirements for the position.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Other duties may be assigned.

  • Turn on grinder machine in proper order.
  • Select foam for desired weight and density.
  • Carry selected foam to the grinder using the tow motor.
  • Open bales or bags and discard all wire, bands, or strings.
  • Inspect all foam to be ground for trash and other foreign materials.
  • Separate and load onto the grinding conveyor.
  • Stop grinding when light comes on showing the bin if full. Do not over fill the bin.
  • Keep grinder clean and well maintained. Report problems to your supervisor immediately.
  • Clean work area and machines before leaving for the day.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

No prior experience or training.

LAUGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
